Our Policy: New Projects And Acceptance Of Work
While I do maintain a waiting list, at this time I am not accepting new projects.
It is strongly suggested that you sign up for my email list in order to receive updates regarding openings or changes in the status of my waiting list as well as other information about shop happenings.
Our Policy: Lead Times And Waiting List
Due to the bespoke nature of my work the lead time for projects will vary. While I work diligently to keep to a schedule, some guns simply take longer than others and consequently will effect the lead time for all the projects behind it. As such, upon confirmation of a project and/or the receipt of a customer’s base gun I will advised as to an approximate lead time for the project.

Our Policy: Shipping
I recommend you use either UPS or FedEx to ship your pistol. This will allow you to track your shipment and its arrival at the shop. Due to my build schedule and the volume of pistols I receive I am unable to email or call every customer and confirm the receipt of every shipment. I strongly suggest you send your gun with a signature required and use the carrier’s tracking service to verify delivery.
Please note that each carrier may have specific requirements when shipping firearms so it is best to refer to their respective websites for instructions.
Do not send any original boxes, cases, owners’ manuals, etc. a simple gun rug or appropriate wrapping material suitable for transport makes things much easier when storing your base gun here at the shop.

Deposits
No deposit is required up front; the only things needed to secure your place in line are a suitable base gun/frame and your complete contact information. When it’s your turn at the bench and I’m ready to start your project I’ll contact you to secure a deposit.

Can I visit the Heirloom Precision shop and do you have a showroom where your pistols can be viewed?
I maintain a closed shop and will only see clients by appointment. Due to the nature of my work I do not maintain an inventory of completed pistols for viewing and seldom have a pistol available for immediate delivery.
Does Heirloom Precision have a retail store or sell guns?
No. I am not a retail gun store nor do I maintain an inventory of firearms. My main focus is on what I do best, building exceptional custom pistols one at a time for discerning shooters.
What brand of pistol/frame do you prefer to build on as a base?
When choosing a base pistol it’s important to choose a gun that doesn’t already have “factory added” features such as a beavertail grip safety, front strap checkering/serrations, high-visibility dovetailed sights, etc. In most instances un-doing these existing features (if at all possible) will cost more time and labor that it’s worth. Additionally, pistols that have had previous work/modifications done to them are not suitable for a custom build from my shop. Simply put, it is much easier and better for both the customer and the end result of the build to start with a ‘blank canvas’…. it’s hard to paint a truly great picture over someone else’s work.
My top recommendations for a “blank canvas” base gun chambered in 45ACP are as follows:
- Colt “Classic” Government Model (SKU: O1911C, O1911C-SS, O1911C-38, & O1911CSS38). This is a currently produced model from Colt and is available in carbon steel and stainless steel in both 45ACP and 38 Super.
- Colt Series 70 Government Model (SKU: O1970A1CS & O1070A1CS)
- Colt Series 80 Government Model in 45ACP (SKU: O1991 & O1091)
- Colt Series 80 Government Model in 9MM (SKU: O1992)

With all that said, I have found that depending on the scope of the build and the specific desires of the customer there are times when one specific brand/model of base gun may be better suited for a project than others. As such I’m always happy to make recommendations and give a bit of guidance when it comes to choosing the right base gun for your project.
Do you do small jobs or piece-meal work?
No. As a general rule I do not do any “small jobs” or “piece-meal” work such as sight installations, trigger jobs, safety fits, or the like and instead concentrate my efforts on building full-house 1911s.
